I to have the eye twitching and spasms that drive me crazy.My eye dtr told me that it was probably from stress, to much caffiene. I thought he was crazy. Years ago i had a heck of alot more stress than i do now so why didnt i get it then? I dont understand it. Of course my kids are teenagers now and i have a new grandbaby, that i love with all my heart, and a new job but my life is still so much better than it ever has been.
I did drink alot of diet coke in a day, so i tried to quit that as much as possible but all i got was a killer headache that lasted for a couple of days. Diet coke is my vice, i dont smoke or drink but i have to have my diet coke or ice tea. Both of my eyes water during the day and the bright outside sunlight or poorly lit light in a office really bothers me to the point that my eyes shut. My face has also started to tense up or make faces so i usually hide my mouth with my hand so people wont think i am making a face at them. I was scheduled for botox but i cancelled it because i dont think i could take someone fooling around by my eyes. Does botox hurt? I work with a co-worker who has had it done and he said it did. His problem only affects his one eye and he said it didnt work for him and he would never have it done again. I am not good with pain so does anyone know of any drugs on the market that would relieve some of the bothering symptons? please help |

Eye twitching | ||
|
I thought i had it bad until I read some of the posts on this forum! I have had an increasingly bad eye twitch in my left eye for around 6 months now. It started with gentle twitches on the skin area just underneath the lower lid, which incrased in frequency and has now sperad to the upper lid also. It's really annoying and I totally sympathise with everyone else who is suffering.
I was going to go and see a doc, but after reading this forum, I dont think I need to bother - after all the doc will simply suggest "stress". I already know there are a few major causes of stress in my life at the moment that, conbined, are effecting my general health and well being and I am going to put the twitching down to stress also. I am goin to look into yoga or other forms of relaxation and/or meditation in a bid not only to control the eye twitching, but also to combat the effects of general stresses in my life. I will keep you posted ;o) (no pun intended!) |

Eye massages | ||

There is a deal of discussion about massaging the twitch. Can someone go into more detail on the method of massage. I have had a twitching eye for three years and the twitch is so strong that my eye closes and lifts the side of my mouth....any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

OMG! I'm not alone! My right lower eyelid has been constantly twitching for about 6 weeks now and is driving me nuts! The only stress in my life right now is this stupid twitch. I'm a massage practitioner and I know that direct pressure helps, but I can't walk around all day with my finger in my eye. I've actually started wearing my bangs over my eye because people stare at me and ask me whats wrong with my eye

Re: My Eye Twitching So Annoying!

Whenever my eye twitches, I head for the grocers and pick up a six pack of tonic water. The quinine in tonic water helps alleviate the twitching. I've had doctors confirm that quinine helps. I like my tonic water on the rocks.

MEDICAL PROCEDURE TRIGGER TWITCHING?
|
Two and a half weeks ago I had a colonoscopy and gastroscopy, almost immediately after my left upper lid started twitching, I aslo had a very strange hearing problem with my left ear. It sounded like I was in a tunnel, certain sounds were amplified while other tones were decreased in volumn. I also had blood in my left nasal passage only. My hearing has returned to normal and I do not have any more problems with my nose. Unfortunately the eye twitching has increased and is driving my crazy. I don't know if the medical procedure had anything to do with this but I have never had a twitch before and the timing seems strange along with the hearing and nose problems all on the left side and all starting at the same time. Just wondering if anyone else has encountered something similar.

after reading all these personal excerpts, I am concluding that the underlying cause is too much sleep and not enough stress in your daily life.
For a few too many years I have been going through some major stress, but for the last two months, I finally took time off. Quit my high pressure job, stayed home, traveled a tiny bit, and soon (in 2 weeks) will start a nice part time job. Finally getting some long overdue R&R. I feel incredible, getting some good sleeps, exercise everyday and probably look the best I have ever looked in a long time. Now my eye has started to twitch... not when I was stressed and overtired... Now when I relax. p.s. my eye is twitching right now... go figure. I even took out my contacts thinking that might be a cause - nope! and not just one eye, but both! |

Herbs? | ||
|
Maybe relaxing herbs would help.........like Valerian, etc.?
One can always google herbs for relaxation/stress. Of course, one who is taking any kind of medications would want to first check that any herb one would want to try would not be a problem with the medicines. |

My upper left eye has been twitching since I got my new contact lenses. It calms down once I remove them. I have tried several different types of lenses. I have a very strong prescription and astygmatism and the contacts work better for me visually than glasses. I also am recently in premature menopause. Has anyone found an increase in symptoms with onset of menopause. I know I don't sleep enough and there is plenty of stress being in menopause and having teenagers, but why does the twitch only happen with my contacts? It seems it would be constant?

My right eyelid has been twitching for a month now. I went to my dr. and he ordered some bloodwork - wants to rule out electrolyte imbalance. I expected him to tell me that it was from stress, which is a definite factor in my life, but he didn't. I haven't gotten the results back yet from the blood tests, but will tomorrow. If there's anything to it, I'll post again.
Any ideas on how to reduce stress? I have too much on my plate to get done. |

I relate, but have all of you beat. My left eye started when I was 39 yrs old. I'm soon to be 50. Still winkin. Folks notice and comment . Embarrasing when I need to talk to someone it gets worse. I try drinking cheap Bourbon ( because I like it) thinking it would help relax, but it seems to make it worse....at least I care about it less. Spoke to eye surgeon who said "stress and caffene, quit or learn to live with it." I've tried quiting caffene, more rest, taking vitamin B, drinking, but nothing works. Meditation does help it to subside, but when I smile it's back in business ( and I'm a happy obtyimistic person who likes to smile!!).
