My lower left lid has been twitching for over 2 weeks now- about 20-30 times a day. It comes and goes - sometimes there are months in between episodes- sometimes years. The last time I remember a really obvious episode was during a job interview. I kept trying to hide my eye and I wondered if the interviewers(there were four) could notice. As a note; I am a big coffee drinker. I am also re-entering the job market again after a three year motherhood leave.Today, I asked my Mom if she knew anything about this. She said she used to get it a lot, and still does now and then.

Stupid twitching Eye | ||

My right eye-lid has begun to have spasms..i guess thats what they are. My boyfriend thinks it's my blood pressure but I believe it's stress related and I am begining to think otherwise. I have a pretty relaxed life outside of my job and I still have the problem while relaxing. I have tried vitamin B for stress, Excederin tension & headache, I have even tried some non-legal herbal supplements none of which help or make the twitch decrease. I am becoming self-cautious about it I feel like I have a growth that everyone can see. I know there's not much that can be done but if someone figures it out please share.

It's hard to believe that so many people have this problem. I have had the eye twitch in both eyes off and on for two years. Last year I began working out and the problem wenrt away. Unfortunately the twitch resurfaced about 1 month after I stopped exercising. There is no question that stress has a major impact on my condition, along with lack of good sleep and too much floursecent light. My question is how exercising is able to impact the condition ?

OMG!! how annoying! Ive had 'wiggling'/twitching in my upper right eye/eyebrow for a week and a bit now. Its so anoying! theres no controlling it! it doesnt just do one twitch, it twitches or wiggles for a second or two! Ive also been experiencing numbness and partial paralysis in my right hand and foot, but cant seem to find any information as to why this is. The doctors here are no good - anyone got any ideas?

I am going through a divorce, moving to scotland in july and having to figure out what to wear to a wedding in less than a months time - could it all be stress related?? Ive got plenty of time to chill out and relax, im in the cornish country side - cant get more relaxing than this! whats wrong with me?? |

I've had an exaggerated intermittent twitch in my upper right lid for about three months now. I havent managed to eliminate it (yet!) but I have minimised the twitching so that it's something that I can deal with. I initially visited my doctor and an optician in order to get a professional view, but neither was particularly helpful, saying that I was either tired or stressed.
I decided I needed to take things into my own hands and understand what was going on, so I started to keep a twitch diary. Ive logged, on a particular day, how bad the twitch was, at what time it was occurring, what I was doing at the time and what I attempted to do to alleviate the twitch. At the end of two weeks I reviewed the diary and spotted some interesting things. Anyway, although some of the following may be me having some sort of a placebo effect on myself (as none of this stuff is particularly scientific), here are some of my observations that you might find useful. I've noticed that my twitching increases when I'm focusing on things with high contrast (such as bright white paper, when reading a book or report with black print, or my bright TFT computer monitor while sitting in a shaded room). I've turned down the brightness and contrast on my monitor at work (I work with a PC for about 25% of my job), and started to use yellow pastel paper to photocopy work onto. I feel that this really has helped minimise my twitch. Also, my eye twitches more during the day, in bright light, than at night. I think my twitching is probably related to high contrast and bright light. I generally tend to squint my eyes in bright light, and I think this is making things worse. My optician supplied me with prescription sunglasses which have helped somewhat. I've also started to massage my eyelid in the morning and nights with a little moisturising cream (a gentle circular motion) as massage definitely helps and has been the main way Ive been alleviating the twitch. I've been gently massaging for about five minutes on the affected spot. Anyway just some thoughts, and to let you guys know that you are not alone! Gary (in the U.K.) |

My right eyelid has been twitching for about 2 weeks now. At least 4-5 times a day! Sometimes it lasts for a couple of minutes and sometimes only for about 30 seconds. It kind of worries me. There it just did it again. Today it has been doing it more often. In case any studies are going on right now on the subject, and if anyone is reading this, I have horrible allergies which cause me to sneeze all of the time. It seems that almost every time I sneeze my eye automatically begins to twitch. Coincedence?

I too have been plagued with this. It's been going on in my lower right lid for a week now and is driving me nuts!! I can plainly see there really is no sure answer. I have emailed my medical doctor, waiting to see what she says. Not real confident that she will have an answer though now after reading all these comments. I had no idea so many people have this problem. It doesn't seem to get in the way of my sleeping but as soon as I'm up and going it starts twitchin. I will try more meditation/prayer and the eye massage, seems to be the only thing I'm seeing that remotely works. thanks to all who listen.

Mine started a couple of days ago. The things I have been doing different, my new job requires computer work which I have noticed, makes my eyes tired. I have moved into a new home, just built and the carpet seems to effect my eyes after working on the computer for a couple of hours. The bottom right eyelid, twitches like a strobe light constantly. I am 51 yrs. old. Is this what I have to look forward to?

Eye twitch gone... | ||
|
Hey guys, a quick update.
I'm two weeks twitch-free. The eye-lid massage REALLY did the trick for me, and I've also benefited from wearing prescription sun-glasses to cut the glare. I think my twitch was triggered by me squinting in bright light, as I've noticed on photos that I do that a lot, so in minimising my squinting (due to bright light) I think I've solved my problem! Just to let you guys know that there is some hope! Gary. |

I too have had the under eye twitching on the left side for about a month now. I have a caveranoma in my mid brain. It is an abnormal clump of blood vessels. They started to bleed a couple of months ago, and I was hospitalized, so I am going to ask my Nuerologist if it could be related. I have always had some twitching, but mostly on the upper lids. This time its only UNDER my left eye. Whats a girl to do?

I had an eye twitch a year or two ago and went to the eye dr. She suggested drinking either tonic or seltzer water, I can't remember which one now. It worked for me. Another suggestion is EFT (emotional freedom technique). There are practitioners who use this therapy and you can learn to do it yourself with relative ease. EFT can work for either emotional or physical problems.

This is a link to get people started who wish to find out about EFT. My personal viewpoint is that alternative therapies don't work, and generally tend to be unregulated and expensive. I suggest anyone who is interested do some serious research. If the evidence is anecdotal, then steer clear when mony is involved... Just my 2p worth. |

Upper eyelid pulsations | ||
|
My problem is maybe not twitching, but pulsating, or having a spasm... I am not sure. All I know is that it is not blinking and that it is on in my upper eyelid, and that it is extremely annoying. The funny thing is that I think my mom has the same thing. Could this be hereditary? I also notice, I think I am "getting" a lazy eye. Before it was only when I had something alcoholic to drink (don't laugh, but I noticed it in pictures and people woul tell me), know I notice it at all times. Comments?

Hey you are right!!! Moisture helps relaxe the muscles and rubbing them too. I thought I would go nuts with these twitches...but thankyou!!! It really did help!!! I still have them occasionally, but no matter...it is not serious at all.

I've had the twitch for 2 weeks straight now. I've had it for short periods in the past but this time it was making me crazy. Last night I put on one of those gel packs for eye puffiness -- kind of like a catwoman with gel you put in the fridge. It really helped but the twitch is back today.
