spasm of muscle below eye
|
This started happening to me about a month ago.
The 'underlid' of my left eye keeps twitching back and forth, more so than up and down. I can see it happen in the mirror, and my eye lashes/underlid is spasming left to right. It happens almost constantly through the day, and it is getting quite irritating. Now it's allergy season, and I get very itchy eyes, and my left eye is already sensitive because of this spasming. From what I read, there is not a huge concern, nor a concrete solution to this problem. Anyone else having this issue, and have any tips? I find putting a cold compress on my eye helps, but only temporarily. |

I also have this eye twitching but always under my eye. It happens every once in a while but lately it's been happening numerous time a day for several days now. It's really annoying and after reading some of the information on the web, gives me some cause for concern. I'll try the cold compresses one of you suggested and the other things. I hope it stops the twitching. I'm concerned.

lid below right eye twitching

Good Morning All,
New here, and I also have the same problem with the twitching on lower lid, over a month now. Rather annoying and fairly constant. Trying to pinpoint the trigger to it all, and has to be either stress or fatigue. Both have been going on a long time, so why "now"? Why not back then? For clarity: it was due to home construction and living in the house while it was being completed. No fun for sure. Took over a year. Delayed reaction? |

Eye Twitching | ||

My eye has been twitching, almost constantly for a year. I've done research on the web, and asked my eye doctor about it. Most of the time it is supposed to go away. Here are some tips I was told.
Use hot/cold compresses to relax the muscles. Get more sleep. Reduce stress. If you work in front of a computer take lots of breaks. Reduce the amount of caffeine you drink. If these don't work there are extreme measures you can take: You can get very small amounts of BOTOX injected into the muscle to stop the twitching. There are some drugs that can help relieve the twitching. Surgery can be option in severe cases. Other than that... there isn't much you can do. The BOTOX seems to work really well, but it isn't permanent. Some people have the twitching return when it wears off. Hope that helps. |

I too have been having these eye twitches under my right eye. I take Effexor XR, so I wonder if this is what is causing it. Does anyone know if this is serious?

I had bells palse 18 Years ago and I have had my eye twitch for years now. this eye alsofeels dry at times and little itchy at times. The most annoying thing is that it twitches constantly... I have a life filled with stress as do most people today.
I try to be well rested. I take vitamin supplements and still it twitches. I have not tried botox because it is expensive and if it does not work then i am out money I really need. So, I just accept it. Being a contact wearer it is not very comfortable ti have this condition- but, there is little that can be done about it. I have been looking into this for years! |

Eyelid muscle spasms - Causes
|
There are various reasons that cause such muscle spasms in the eyelids or the areas around a person's eyes. This can due to over-tiredness, over-straining of the eyes and even medical sensitivity that causes the sickness of photophobia (Syndrome of extreme and unusual sensitivity to light) on the part of one's eyes, such as overdosage of such a type of drug called risperdal.
Under such circumstances, a person may experience weakened or more sensitive nerves in the muscles around his/her eyes that cause uncontrollable, involuntary and unwanted movements to this organ, which may well include excessive spasms, blinkings and twitchings of the eyelids and other muscles around the eyes. Based on my own personal experience, such a sickness was very extremely annoying as it denied me of the abilities to drive, carry on with my daily work properly, reading, watching tv, and I simply feel overwhelmingly awkward and embarrased to face other people especially the strangers who felt weird about my continuous eye blinking and eyelid twitching sickness. I have sought lots of medical treatments and apply various kinds of eye drops, taking various types of vitamins, mineral pills as well as many types of anti-muscle spasm medications from lots of eye specialists, neurosurgeons, psychiatrists, ENT specialists and other general practitioners, and even have the MRI examinations taken to get my eyes cured , but these efforts turn out to be in vain as they fail to yield any positive results. Luckily, just about a year after I suffer from such a sickness, I come across an accupuncture expert who studied and observed closely about my problems and then administer a therapy needle on the part of the flesh which is about 1.5 cm above the middle part between my thumb and my forefinger of my right hand. After that, he just ask me to press (using just mild force) that accupuncture point using such objects like toothpick /normal writing pen or anything with a blunt-pointed end for at least 2 hours a day and then consistently for about 2 months. Having done that persistently based on his order, my eyelid-twitching that makes my eyes blinking all the time just totally recover and I can drive, work with the pc screens, watch tv, movies and read as well as work like any other normal persons. For your further information, I have also come across quite a couple of people in my real life annoyed by such an eyelid-twitching problem of different causes and degrees of severity, and accordingly, I just recommend the method as mentioned above to them and within weeks, they just experience significant improvements to their conditions after applying this therapy, and after a few months , they just recover totally from this sickness. Lastly, I sincerely wish that the ones troubled by such an annoying eyelid-twitching sickness can recover finally from their illness. Thank you. |

twitching below the eye

For two weeks now I have had the most annoying eye spasms on both my lower eyes. They almost feel like I need to "scratch my eyes out". This may not be true for everyone but it is well worth researching. After I read everyones elses replies and ruled out stress and anxiety (I suffer from this day in day out so this would be nothing unusual for me being that my symptoms have only been going for two weeks) I decided to have a further look on the internet and found an article in the Daily Mail dated 14th May 2007, regarding rape seed. Looking back my eye spasms started as soon as those nasty little plants started to flower, along with the sneezing and itchy twitchy eyes. At times I thought there might be something seriously wrong and was worried about going to the doctors but realise that I may just be suffering from an allergy to rape seed causing my eyes to spasm and twitch and itch. As I said earlier this may not be true for everyone but for me now I know I can do something about relieving my symptoms. I hope you all find relief for your eye spasms as I know how annoying and frustrating it can be. Good luck. |

Follow-up | ||

Tardive Dyskinesia actually falls under the EPS (extrapyramidal symptoms) syndrome which may well include dystonia, parkinsonism etc. Such EPS syndrome (especially physical movement disorders, including Hemifacial Spasms, which include involuntary eyelid twitching, triggered by bodily chemical imbalances) in turn is caused by disturbances to the dopamine receptors (one of the main neurotransmitters) in the nervous system which is normally induced by most of the AAP's (atypical antipsychotics). Please refer to the weblink below for a follow-up of the information given above in regard of my healing experience from such Tardive Dyskinesia-induced abnormally rapid eyelid twitching sickness :http://community.kget.com/forums/thread/2561470.aspx

I experience what you have gone through before and it is due to the dopamine-disturbing side effects of an antipsychotic drug called
Risperdal.
