I'm rather worried about my elderly aunt who has just undergone cataract surgery. She tells me she coughed badly during surgery yesterday and that her vision from this eye is now just a mist. She is devastated. I haven't been able to establish from her how worried her doctor was but she did tell me that the doctor said she shouldn't have coughed. Is it possible that this is just a short-term effect? She will see her doctor again on Friday but believes that she has been blinded in this eye. She is a heavy smoker and I do not understand why she was not given a throat spray or at least told to signal somehow if she needed to cough. Any ideas?
